(M.Com.)
S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics provides
M.Com Course also. One batch has successfully completed.
M.Com. course offered at the college is 2
year full time self financed course affiliated to Goa University.
The course is in line with that offered by Department of
Commerce, Goa University. It includes 3 classroom semesters
and 1 semester corporate internship wherein students will
be placed in corporate firms for training purpose.
Candidates who have passed their B.Com. examination
with minimum 40% marks are eligible to apply for this course.
Experienced faculty are associated with the
course.
Mrs Sangeeta Verma - She is the M.Com course
coordinator. Her qualification include M.Com, B.Ed, ICWAI
and is persuing with MBA from Norsee Monjee institute of
Management Studies. She has 15 years of teaching experience
in CBSE afflitated school and 5 years of experience in study
centre of Delhi University before joining this college.
Mr Yatish Verenkar - He is
a visiting faculty whose qualification includes CS and CA.
and has an year of teaching experience.
Mr Atmaram Tarpe - He is
also a visiting faculty whose qualification is M.Com. His
area of specialisation is Accounting and finance.
The M.com programme offered by the institution
is affiliated to Goa University and is based on the existing
course structure for the same programme offered by Department
of commerce of Goa University. The M.Com degree will be
awarded by Goa University itself.
Programme Structure
The M.Com programme offered by the college is two years
full time programme with semester system scheme of instruction.
Students admitted to the programme have to undergo the following
course and training.

(a) Courses:
The instruction scheme of M.Com. degree programme is based
on system of integrated units called courses. There are
two types of courses:
1. Compulsory courses: These
are ten in number and compulsory for all the students. These
will be covered in Sem-I and Sem-II.
2. Specialisation courses:
These are ten in number under each of the two specializations.
These will be covered in Sem-III and Sem-IV.

(b) Summer Training:
At the end of 2nd semester, every student will have to undergo
2 months summer training to gain the job experience in Commercial/
Industrial Organizations / Finance & Investment Companies
/Professional firms like CA’s, Stock Brokers, Project
Management consultants/ Small and Medium Enterprises in
Goa or outside. At the end of the summer training candidate
will have to produce the certificate of experience for duration
of 2 months to become eligible for admission year M.Com.
course.
Fees and Refund of Fees:
The provisional fees for the M.Com. programme is Rs. 20000
per year. However, it may be noted that these fees are only
provisional and the final amount of fees will be as decided
by the Goa University. In case of any upward revision of
fees by competent authority, it will be collected from the
candidate. The refund of fees will be made as per the rules
of Goa University.
The above said fees are to be paid through
demand draft drawn in favour of S. S Dempo college of Commerce
& Economics (Self Financing-M.Com) payable at Panjim–Goa.
Scheme of Evaluation:
Credits:
Each of the compulsory and optional courses consists of
45-50 contact hours and is assigned four credits. A minimum
of 80 credits has to be obtained by candidate to quality
for the award of Master’s degree in Commerce.
Internal Evaluation and Examination:
The scheme of examination in respect of each of the course
includes two components viz. intra Semester Assessment (ISA)
and Semester End Assessment (SEA). ISA includes Test, Assignment
and Seminars carrying total of 50 marks and evaluated by
teacher of the respective courses. SEA examination will
also carry total of 50 marks which will be evaluated by
external examiner. SEA will cover the entire syllabus of
courses taught. The dates of ISA and SEA examinations will
be announced to the students from time to time.
Grading:
The grade obtained by a student at the end of the M.Com.
programme shall be determined by the percentage of aggregate
marks obtained by him/her in all the courses the grade to
be so awarded shall be as follows:

Post-Graduate
Diploma in Management with Specialization in Event Management
The institution is also offering Post-Graduate
Diploma in Management with specialization in Event Management.
Event Management has emerged as one of the fastest growing
new generation industry. There is dearth of professionals
with requisite qualification in several sections of this
industry including business, entertainment, educational
and social events. In light of this the college launched
this program in the academic year 2005-2006. It is 15 months
week-end programme giving a comprehensive knowledge of the
field with managerial skills. Graduates from any discipline
are eligible to apply for this programme. This being a week-end
programme, it offers excellent opportunity to aspiring event
managers and existing professionals in the industry to acquire
necessary training in the area of event management.
Diploma Course:
PGDM in Event Management is a 15-month
course started from Oct 2005.

Certificate Programme in Accounting
Package
This is a 3 months employment oriented programme
conducted for the students of First year, Second year as
well as Third year B.Com.
The focus of the programme is to provide in
depth training to the students in using Tally 7.2 Business
Accounting Package.
The 3 months Certificate Programme in Accounting
Package using Tally software offers a complete training
in handling financial accounts in a computerized setup including
VAT, TDS, Service tax, Stores Accounting, Forex Management,
Credit control, and other aspects of financial accounting.
The programme is open to college students as well as employees
from companies and members of general public interested
in learning the software.
